Own your education

The University of Miami is only as strong as the people who call it home. This strength is amplified by a community with varied backgrounds, talents, and interests.

Our holistic review process focuses on the vibrancy and energy you showcase through your application and supporting documents. We enjoy learning about you and what you will contribute to our already dynamic and one-of-a-kind campus.

UM is one of few U.S. institutions that meet 100 percent of demonstrated financial need. We also provide an array of merit scholarships that range up to the full cost of attendance. Both approaches endeavor to bring a Miami education within reach.

As the premier educational and research institution for the Americas, UM offers its 10,000+ undergraduate students unrivaled intellectual, personal, and professional opportunities through nine schools and colleges. You can choose from more than 100 different programs of study.

Moreover, founded in 1925, the University reflects the youthful spirit and vibrancy of its location in Miami, Florida. This is a campus and a city poised to address many of the world’s future and most pressing challenges. It’s no wonder that an increasing number of prospective students have put UM on their college list over the past few years. The Fall 2023 incoming class is the most academically talented and diverse in UM history. And, while it is now more competitive to gain admission to UM than in the past, my colleagues and I remain committed to a student-centered process that provides multiple pathways so that your dreams of becoming a ’Cane can become a reality.

We offer fall admission and spring admission. We offer four admission plans, two of which are binding. If you cannot commit to applying under a binding admission plan, that’s okay; we enroll the majority of our incoming first-year classes from a combination of our non-binding Early Action and Regular Decision plans. We also offer a transfer process that is straightforward and accessible.

Have questions about why you should add UM to your college application list? Or, why you should consider spending the next four years of your academic journey at one of the most transformative campuses and cities in the U.S.—and precisely at a time during which we have embarked on a bold and ambitious journey to make our institution—and the world—ever brighter? Contact our tour guides, or your assigned admission counselor. Discover the University of Miami. Should you make the decision to apply, my colleagues and I look forward to reviewing your application and supporting documents.
